WEST BLOOMFIELD MIDDLE
SCHOOLS SWIMMING AND DIVING
PARENT’S MEETING
AGENDA – 11/28/11
INTRODUCTION OF COACHES
Mrs. Driska McCullough, Mr. Bob Crosby, Mr. Mike Shewach
All parents
should remember that the Middle School program does not include 6th
graders, and is a swim program only. No
diving takes place in our program.
Please wait and follow
directions for filling out the forms – Blue Card, White Card, Personal Data Sheet,
Pay to Participate Fees should be taken care of online.
PHILOSOPHY OF THE PROGRAM
Our
intention for the Middle School program is to be a feeder to our High School
teams. Therefore, we expect students to attend practice regularly and be
present to compete at the meets. Please also remember, this is not a learn to swim program.
Although previous competitive experience is not necessary, we do
expect each participant to have certain basic skills when they come into the
program.
PAY TO PARTICIPATE
These fees should be paid online. The link to do this is:
http://www.payschools.com/categories.asp?id=B75A2B1EB3C04AC5B343AC069DDEBDA4
You
may also pay in person at the Athletic Office with cash or a certified
check. Students cannot participate in practice
or meets until this has been done. The
coaches will get verification from the athletic office that fees have been
paid. Questions about pay to participate
can be directed to the Athletic Office at 248-865-6743.
ABSENCES FROM PRACTICE
When
it is necessary for your child to miss practice, please send in a note
explaining the absence. The team is too large to have everyone
calling in absences, so please communicate in writing. If absences become too frequent, your child
may be withheld from competing in meets.
MEET PARTICIPATION
For
our program to reach it’s potential, we need all team
members available for every meet. If
another school activity prevents someone from being available, or your child is
sick, please notify Coach Driska McCullough since she
is responsible for meet line-ups. See
the meet schedule for her contact information.
We want to avoid last minute changes whenever possible.
PRACTICE SCHEDULE
As a
general rule, practices are Monday – Thursday from 5:00-6:15 PM. Parents are welcome to watch practice any day
from the pool balcony. We do not
practice when there is a home swim meet for the High School Boys. The calendars for each month are posted on
the website. See the Middle School
choice on the left menu. From now on,
please refer to the website (lakeraquatics.com)
for all information about the program.
Practice is
automatically cancelled on any day that school has been cancelled.
TRANSPORTATION
Swimmers
and divers are responsible to get to practice and home meets on time via their
parents. For away
meets, the bus will first pick up the Abbott students, and then go to OLMS to
get those team members. Refer to the
calendars for pick up times at each Middle School. Students must have their own transportation home from all swim meets!
SUITS, SHIRTS, AND CAPS
To get
the team attire, see Coach McCullough and fill out an order form. We would like for everyone to participate in
this part of our program so we can look like a team.
