2011 WEST BLOOMFIELD GIRLS SWIMMING & DIVING - FACT SHEET
Girls Swimming and Diving is a fall sport. In 2011, the first day of practice is Wednesday, August 10th.
On Tuesday, August 9th there will be a team meeting at 8:00 A.M. to turn in paperwork and plan for the upcoming season.
Our team competes in the Oakland Activities Association. For the upcoming season we will be in the White Division.
Other teams in our division include: Farmington, Berkley, Rochester, Stoney Creek, Andover, and Oxford.
For most team members, the season runs until the first week of November.
It culminates with the Division Championship Meet. Those swimmers and divers who qualify for the State Meet,
will finish their season two weeks later. The State Meet is always the weekend before Thanksgiving.
Anyone is welcome to try out for team, regardless of previous experience.
Coming into the program with previous experience gives you a definite advantage. Attached is information about
Summer Conditioning offered through the WB Community Education program. To enhance your performance,
you need to be active and train during the off season. All team members and prospective candidates are encouraged
to enroll in this program, if you are not a member of a club already.
Contact Community Education to enroll, or you can enroll for the program on line.
Practice calendars are posted for each month on our team website. The website address is listed below.
Team members practice every day after school, and swimmers practice three days a week before school starts.
The 2011 meet schedule is also posted on the website.
The divers are a separate group of athletes within the program. Diving is one of the 12 events in a swimming meet.
The diving team is coached by a separate person and has their own practice schedule. Again, having some previous
experience is not necessary to try out, but it does give you a definite advantage. If you are interested in diving,
contact the Diving Coach to see about requirements and summer diving camp. His email is listed below.
To make sure you are always getting the information you need, check the website often.
